Dear Mr. Brooks, my name is Daniel Mendelson and I'm a film student at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. My god, you must get a trillion of these daily, but I just want to say that I saw "The Producers" twice and absolutely loved it. I really think that the actor\musician\entertainer Jack Black would be perfect to play either Max or Leo. He'se probably not old enough for Max, but boy would he make a helluva Leo. His endless energy, comic timing and incredibal vocal talents would lend greatly to the role. Of course, it is true that his prime audience consists of mostly a younger crowd, but that could be really interesting and show alot of balls on your part and his. I think it would be great for the show to get a hip, young star to play this role, not that Mathew and Nathan aren't hip, but this would attract billions of teenagers. They would be flooding the theater to see Jack Black kick ass on broadway, guaranteed, and then would be suprised and amazed by the greatness of your magical show all in the same night. And there's no question that Mr. Black would kick major ass! I can't even imagine. He is explosively exciting, intensely charasmatic, funny as funny can be, he sings, dances, and never seems to get tired. He is so full of energy, its astonishing. I dont know if you saw him host the 2002 MTV movie awards, in which he just completely blew everyone off the stage, or if you saw him single handedly revive a dying show, Saturday Night Live, in one hosting. He is simply magnificant. I would recommend you getting his album "Tenacious D" and renting some of his films, "Shallow Hal" "High Fidelity", especialy. At least think about it, it's worth contemplating. If you're not too busy, and if you actualy end up reading this, which I doubt, but hope, it would be great to hear from you Mr. Brooks, to hear what you think about this. However if you can't, I completely understand. Sincerely, Daniel Mendelson (MendelMovie@aol.com)

Dear Mr. Brooks,
My name is Tony Hilton. I just saw "The Producers" on Broadway and I can't tell you how fantastic I thought it was. It absolutely blew me away. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. I laughed so hard and for so long that I nearly choked on my tongue.
I am a young lawyer, and I want to be a young screenwriter/director/producer (But not necesarily in that order). I would like to give up being a lawyer to pursue that career. I have been trying for a while now to break into the business, but as you can guess, these days it's tougher than it usually is, so I've hit a lot of snags (all attached to egos of some sort). Never the less, despite the discouragement and the slamming doors, I am extremely hungry and continue to fight my way in. I will do anything to get my shot. Had I not been Jewish, I would cut off my forskin if that was what was required of me to do. If Steven Speilberg had to die so that everyone behind him could advance one level to make room for me, though I love his movies... he's goin' down. Anyway, I was hoping maybe you could provide me with some advice or what-not on this issue. Anything you would have to offer would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you.
Sicerely, Tony Hilton mnemnoc@hotmail.com

Mr. Brooks:
Congratulations on your Broadway success with "The Producers". You have given myself and my friends many hours of joy over the years with your work. However, as a longtime theater fan, and having seen both "The Producers" and "The Full Monty", I must say that "The Full Monty" is the better show all around. You certainly did not deserve some of the "Tony" awards you receved, especially not "Best Score".

I've got a manuscript for you to read!! I've written a book full of disrespectful humor - it's right up your alley - everyone who has read it has told me to send it to you to read. I'd like to do that, but want to know if would be interested. My name is Margaret Jennings and I'm from Helena, Montana and can be reached at either 406-444-2155 or 406-227-5958. I'd love it if you'd take a look at it. Thanks.

Dear Mr. Brooks,
I recently bought the DVD release of Spaceballs, and watched it once, and then again with your commentary. Listening to some of your thoughts is a pleasure.
I have seen many of your movies: Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and if possible, I would love an autographed photo with your favorite quote, "May the Schwartz be with you!"
Also, I recently caught a behind the scenes look at the 2001 production of The Producers, and it was really great - the actors, singers and orchestra were spectacular. We also see how involved and caring a man you are.
Anyways, thanks for the laughs! My email is angelo14@hotmail.com if you get a chance! I'd love an autographed photo.
Thanks,
Angelo

I just got finnished reading an article on you that was in the USA today that made you look like the comedy god of broadway. GREAAT!!! I can think of no one that deserves it more. I have always admired your style and the lightning quickness of your wit. Thank you for being.
P.S. I guess what they say about laughter being the best medicine isn't true, because if it was you would have a cure for cancer.

Hello Mr. Brooks. Is that reallly true? That you will give money to those who asks for? hmmm...Just another Joke, isn´t it? Im an 29 year old german composer and the first I realized looking your movies was the wonderful score, as seen in "the history of the world". Your music, esspeacially the funny "hitlerrap" (its in germany forbidden, did you know that?) gave me a very strong influence in composing and producing my work. a such great influence as John Williams. Ok, thats my deal, Mr. Brooks: You give me money for my new Studio and I give you the promise to compose the music for your next films for free. "Funny Guy", do you think. O.k. Ive got experience in producing for german film and television and doing all the postproduction stuff. Im a professional in this business and all i was asking me was: Will I get any answer from Mr. Brooks?
Hmmmm...Im looking forward to it.
Ingo Pickhan

I rented some of your movies this weekend and the lady at the video store laughed when I told her they were for my education! Haha! Do you think you're a rebel?
Hey, wanna help me with my latest screenplay "The Bogey Man?" It's about a monster that lives on a golf course and is a terrible horror movie parody. Yes, I knew you wouldn't care. :p

Mel (or, Mr. Brooks, if you prefer):
My father-in-law Herb is on his deathbed with terminal cancer, probably a week or so to live (it gets better from here).
My wife Ruth and I listened to your "2000 Yr. Old Man in the Yr. 2000" CD with much amusement...then Ruth suggested that her dad might get a kick out of it.
Well, today we played it for him (we had to bring our CD and set it up at his bedside). It was such a joy to see him chuckle and smile as he listened. In fact, we got an outright belly laugh when the 2000 Yr. Old Man identified his favorite place to live as "1161 Sutton Place South...what a lobby!".
You should be proud and gratified that the power of your comedy could penetrate such pain and sadness.
So, from us and Herb, his wife and grandkids a sincere thank you.
